For those of you who know me well, you know that being up at 530am on a Saturday morning is not my style. However, I can't sleep as my eyes have been opened this week to the discrimination in the workplace due to visible tattoos. It is almost like I am gay all over & I am being told to put it back in the closet or don't ask don't tell. I can't live in a repressive work environment. I refuse to make money for a corporation all the while I am not allowed to be myself. Is invisible slavery allowed? The more I read & search for jobs the more I believe there needs to be come type of protection for the employee. In my case I am internal, not even customer facing, but somehow I am offending someone with a sunflower on my neck. I found this wonderful website in my search to help others that may have this issues also. It is: http://www.modifiedmind.com/employline.html. In the meantime I am looking for other employment & being forced to conceal who I am on a daily basis because someone has old fashioned views that everyone should fit into the same box & look the same. I will not let corporate America take away the person that I am. I will not be conformed to your liking.
